This is one of the  first times I can think of that i was thinking the exact same thing, then the president came out and said it in nearly the same words.

Tromp is no hero, but he did write the book on negotiation. Now we need a way to bring the Chinese to the table without leverage. It would be great to secure the free moment though the seas in the area nd let's throw in a free Taiwan while we are at it.
