Misspoken year

I have not heard an adult make the mistake of saying 1908 when referring to a couple years ago. I have heard several young people of teen vintage make this mistake. The assumption is that older people who lived through the 19xx era through their adult lives would have a much harder time coping with the change. It seems to not have been a problem over all.
