I have no idea what the laptop specs are that I'm using. It is
ancient. After installing Xubuntu and open office I have just under a
gig of free space on the drive. It has 200 meg and change memory, 200
GHz processor. I have no idea what else. Oh, one USB 1.0 port where I'
will have to put my character and other data files while using the
laptop. Things are coming together. I'll be prepared for next Friday.
Last night a screen popped up that said new updates were
available. It turns out Ubuntu 8.04 is out. The system updated itself.
I left it running and went to bed. When I got up, the download and
install was done. The clean up was running. The system wanted to remove
something. I clicked 'continue', rebooted. The laptop did not come up
the first boot. It came up the second. It still seems to be working.
The sound still does not work. The drive has no free space. Can't view
YouTube videos. No online radio. No storing data on the drive. No
wireless. Oh, well. Still better than nothing.
I will not have the books on the computer. The laptop is not really
strong enough to put adobe reader. I'll have to have some other pdf
viewer. One of the ones that suck. That will at least get me down the
road. Now, I just have to find my books and dice.
Dream Laptop of the day
