Fringing Samba
Three days. Three days I've been fucking with the smb.conf
file to no good end. It just plane won't let me in. I try ninety
different combinations of shit.
So, what worked? <pause for effect> Cutting the file down to
nothing.
[global] workgroup = WORKGROUIP netbios name = henry # Kelly 2007-06-01 [public] comment = Public Stuff path = /space/public public = yes writable = yes printable = no # Overnet [overnet] comment = Overnet path = /home/kelly/.aMule/Incoming public = no writable = yes printable = no valid users = kelly browseable = yes # HTTP [http] comment = http top folder path = /var/www/html public = no writable = yes printable = no valid users = %S browseable = yes |
That's it. Just the workgroup and the name of the server. Everything else is default. EVERYTHING else is default.
It pisses me off. The default file didn't work. Me messing with it didn't work. I could share files if I made everything world read and write. Screw that. I at least want to feel like I have some security set.
