Europe woes

“Greece will have to leave the Eurozone.” -Greenspan How long has it taken the powers so high up to realize what the rest of us knew for years? I remember thinking the Europeans hate each other far too much to get along for more than a generation. It hasn’t even been 20 years (formed in 1998). They just mike make it two decades before tossing the first nonconformist member.

There are all kinds of suggestions. “Watered down” European membership. What the hell does that mean? Well, I imagine it means they don’t get access to the European credit card.

“Bridging loan” that will never get paid back. Well, Germany will pay it back. Well, the rest of Europe will pay it back, but that really means Germany.

Renegotiating debt. What the hell does that mean? Well, Germany backs loans that Greece will never pay back. Wait a minute. Isn’t that the same thing as just paying their debt? Well, no. I guess it makes Greece look like a dick more than the other one.

The problem is the Creek government doesn’t want to pay their fucking bills. By government, I mean the democratically elected government that the people voted for who currently run the joint.

Either Greece gets tossed out of the EU, or Germany pays their bills and we end up back here in ten or twenty years.

The idea of a monetary single currency union called the Eurozone is splitting at the seams. The loose threads are caused by a single currency without a single monetary policy. This was a mistake.

The people of Greece need to understand that their phones will stop working at some point even if they pay their bills because that stuff relies on infrastructure that is paid for in part by taxes. When you don’t have the upkeep on the infrastructure, the phone bills will go through the roof, or the phone companies will exit the market. They don’t need the headaches. Now, repeat for water, electricity, sewer, schools, food delivery, everything.
