The old system was leaking. When you have a bucket that is not holding what you want it to hold, you repair it, or switch buckets. This sounds like a security decision to me.
If Obama wants things to be released to the public, by all means, release them. Release the same thing from him too. Do it for all presidents for whom records still exist. I would be the first one in line reading them from start to finish.
