Some of the lab machines at work just plane stop talking to the network. You can’t log in externally nor will let let you log in as anyone other than straight up root at the console. This is really annoying because it happened when the new parent company made us switch to their kind of login structure. They said it is more secure, but I’m just not sure. Just have to go hold in the power button and wait. That seems to fix it, but that kills anything you had running on the box of course.
