Racers

The racers are out again this evening. It is Saturday evening after all. I've heard several cars blow by like they are at Nascar. I've heard several low slow rumbles like people are cruising. There have only been a couple of boom-boom cars. Wouldn't it be grand if that fad fell off the map? I've also heard at least one siren that sounded like a police car roar by.

someone is tipping off the racers that the cops are coming . a dozen loud cars all start up their engines at the same time and peal out of the parking lot. We are surrounded. People congregate in parking lots on both sides of our house and in the private lot behind the strip mall next door. They also piss on the side of the wall right in front of our house, and our fence outside Elle's window. How wonderful is that.

Sometimes it gets quiet for a while. The cops have run them off for a bit. The hoards go somewhere else and set up shop. The only thing good about higher gas prices is the lower end racers have fallen off the scale. The looky-loos and faint of heart have fallen off the bottom. The racers will be back here when the next municipality runs them off. Nat has found the racers a couple blocks down at Kroger and over off highway 6 some nights. Saturday and Wednesday evenings they end up here.

I wonder if it will be quiet the rest of the night. I wonder if it will stay quiet for a couple of days. When will the racers come back? Why must they haunt us?
