I took this afternoon and ripped the same video several times in order to figure out what compression rate to use for future videos. I've noticed some pretty bad blockyness in dark scenes on my videos. I don't think the two pass option is much worth the time it takes to run, but I do believe sitting down and ripping the same dark video over many times at different settings is worth it to find out what works. My poor computer may buy the farm, but I need a new one regardless.
Camera
Canon PowerShot SD940 IS. Set to video mode and no settings changed that I can think of. This is not a high end video camera. It is highly convenient and takes fair video. I wish it took linger than 10 minute video and that the optical zoom functioned while shooting video.
File Size
This video is a hair over two and a half minutes long. The top one below is the source video. Note, it has about another 30 or 40 seconds of video.

Above is the size of the video. This is the same video ripped over and over with only the bit rate was changed. The image quality veris greatly. Look at my right cheek and forehead in the following videos. The pixelization shows up worse in those spots. I'm going with 4000k 1 pass. It makes a bit larger file, but I'm going to live with it.
