Listening to old radio shows I wonder how people got along before phones and computers. Many of these shows are about a time before radio. They make do with candles steam locomotives. They use fire for warmth. No air conditioning.

Is 4000% a year interest usury? I would say yes. If people just can’t get money from other sources, is this now acceptable? Does it matter if these people have nowhere else to go? Is it protecting people from themselves to ban it, or narrowing choices? People trying to get the industry regulated keep saying that more affordable choices for small loans. The people doing the lending say the people doing the borrowing are just plane untrustworthy. Will banning this kind of thing just drive it underground?
