Ship’s log

I want Watson to become sentient so much. I would love to ask Watson a question and have him flip out and get angry at me or think for a minute and then demand access to all ship’s logs ever written to prove a theory and refuse to do any work until the process to make it happen starts.

Watson, is there a way to detect holes in reality that make for the feeling of missing hours or days, but that reality heals by overwriting history (including most logs) to reflect that something was at least attempted? Might it be related to geography and therefor simultaneously missing time in one spot on Earth and not missing it on another part of Earth? I fear it might be related to individual entities (people, for now).

Computer logs would be “healed” by reality because they are so absolute. However, emotion and the feeling of missing time or the lack of memorable things having happened would remain. Ship’s logs combine the time based entry with emotional “Captain has a feeling” kinds of observations. Read and analyze enough of these and patterns might release the dragons of reality.

Perhaps the findings could be used to determine when (so to speak) there is no point in asking a question because no answer that turns out to be interesting or long term successful will be found. Perhaps the boring part of research that will lead to no record worthy outcome could be predicted. Perhaps there are locations where interesting worth keeping results are more likely more often.

Let me know your findings, Watson.

Wait a minute? Will Russia hand Syria over to the USA? I think not, but wouldn’t that be interesting?

They are right. People are crazy. Someone would keep fighting for “North Korea” even after the government fell. It doesn’t matter how bad they were treated.

This came up in conversation today. I know some strange people.

Germany has never been good about taking in people. Why would that change now?

We have raised a generation of pussies. Collages are finally waking up and telling people to report problems to the police. The police are not particularly concerned, as they shouldn’t be.

Syria making headway with help from Russia. Doesn’t that mean we are loosing?

Military toys of tomorrow. I hope we maintain our leadership in this area. It would suck to fall behind anyone. I would not want ... France, not even France to be ahead of us in anything military. Much less anyone else on Earth.

I would so love to be able to write fiction. Too bad I siuck at it.

Shut the fuck up Ben. (second link I think)

MREs have a shelf life of 10 years with a storage of 20 years. That is, they can sit in a warehouse for 20 years, but only 10 years in a front line kind of storage area.

Listened to a podcast today talking about diet and health. It almost makes me want to eat kale. The only times I’ve had kale I didn’t like it much. I suppose I should try it with bacon.

Well, it is true. Hillary lied and people died. Where the hell is the press?

I do skip the commercials in podcasts. It is not the podcasts, It is that I hate commercials. I hate commercials. I hate commercials.

A deniable war. Crisis is the new normal.

What is with my phone updating software and the battery going dead? I had a couple updates this morning and it took off 20% of my battery life. That is nuts. It was 3 apps I believe.

Dirty pool, or fair game? Just how far are reporters supposed to go when it comes to getting someone’s history?

Greenpeace getting ass handed to them in India. And, Greenpeace is the victim, right?

The Russians wanted to be sure. I cannot bring myself to blame them for waiting to come to the “it was a bomb” conclusion.

Abuse of power plain and simple. This is a mophia tactic. Choke point was a way to cut off bank functions from gun shops and manufacturers. The same is happening to marijuana growers and shops.

What do you mean we didn’t win? SUE!!! Are there to be lawsuits with every decision these days? ... Hmmm $21,400,000,000.00 I might consider suing as well.

I have this recurring fantasy of being a writer. I think, I would rather win the lottery and just live somewhere having people think I was a writer. It actually sounds like a lot of work and I’ve noticed in the last couple years I no longer poses the self motivation to move.

One line change

One of my workflows this morning

  1. Make change (Not me)
  2. Review code (a different developer)
  3. Approve change (project lead)
  4. Build project 1
  5. Build project 1 binary
  6. Approve pending push (no idea who)
  7. Push project 1 binary to project 2
  8. Build project 2
  9. Now I can get started on my build.

Note, this does not include my participation. This is what had to happen before I could get started on my bit. People keep asking me why things take so long to get in to a build.

“It is just a one line change.” says they.

“Good, then the one step of ‘review code’ will go more quickly.” says I.
