Notes

I cannot use Hibernate on my Linux laptop from work. It worked a couple times then died. It will act like it hibernates when you close it down, but when you try to wake it up it does the following.
  • Make you enter the drive password
  • Hang on a black screen until you power off
  • Make you enter the drive password
  • Go through some TUI menu
  • Hang on a blank screen until you power off
  • Make you enter the drive password
  • Make you enter the encryption password
  • Finally log in to the machine
Normally only the last three are the normal steps to get the machine to come up. It ends up being faster to just shut the frigging thing down and reset everything up on the other end. I had to do the hibernate thing because that was the excuse we gave to get SSD drives. Well, the SSD drives rock. hibernate sucks on Linux and probably always will.

We are losing the war. What war, the war we are not allowed to speak of. Why? Because someone in charge does not want us to win. They want us to lose.
