Someone wanted to figure out what was going on with whales. They cracked open the Russian whaling archives from the early 1900s to the seventies. It sounds like someone had to digitize the records in order to properly blackout some information. it was, however, a wealth of information. It will help in preserving some whale species. Not quite irony.
