This was a small group. It’s funny how I am less likely to speak in smaller groups. I had one thing I wanted to add to a conversation about legal stuff and just wouldn't because I didn’t have the source story at hand. This blog has made me not want to get started on a story without some kind of source information at hand to back up what wilde allegations I’m making.

We, meaning our government, need to start arming rebels in Syria. This means handing weapons to the people who would like nothing better than to slit our throats. our leaders just don’t get it. Either we go in to win or we stand on the sidelines and cheer. Some are calling this strategic suicide.
The big debate online today is weather terrorism or our government is the bigger threat.
Estonia has automated everything. They don’t have enough people to do all the jobs. Many things like parking lots and tickets are handled by computers and mobile phones. This is what you get without unlimited immigration.
Someone said I look like I’ve been in a fight. My knuckles are cracked and dry. This is normal for me, but it bugs some people who think I’m an asshole. He puts the lotion on his skin to keep from getting dirty looks again. Actually, it was just a joke. Still. More lotion.
Today, I listened to a report on NPR about a “gay lobby” or “gay subculture” in the Vatican. Someone mentioned that many of the members of this group or sect are very conservative and do not want to change the teachings of the church. I say, not yet. First you infiltrate, then you divide. Then, you conquer.
Honduras is the worlds most violent nation. Something like 20 murders every day in a country of 8 million gets you that label. 40% of all cocaine that hits the U. S. goes through Honduras. Two gangs held simultaneous press conferences announcing a ceasefire.

When I was about four, I remember having a snowball fight with my cousins. We were in someones front yard. Everyone was having fun except me. This was the first time I remember hating competition. This was the earliest example of disliking conflict. We were having fun and the idea of play fighting made me sick. I wonder today, in my forties, if that fear and disgust with competition was a defence against rage.s
I’ve been using feedly recently. Ever since Google Reader went tits up, I’ve had to use something. for my RSS feed needs.recently, Feedly has converted over to their own back end. That is, they were using Google Reader to store feed information including what had been read or not. That bit of information was recently lost on Feedly. I had to clear all my feeds in order to start over with them. This is nothing really. I’ve had to do this sort of thing many times with most of the programs I’ve used for RSS aggregators.
I’ve nearly finished the Johnnie Walker black that Nat got me a couple weeks ago. She bought a 200ml bottle. I thought it was a good size because the 1 liter bottle lasted me 3 years. maybe having the smaller bottle was not a good idea. How many people go through 200ml a day?
Last night I had the funniest dream. I was driving across country. The car was an 80’s era Buic. I made the comment to someone that this sort of thing, meaning the driving across country thing, was not going to be around much longer. I believe I meant that that country was changing or the roads were going away. That or the infrastructure was dying. Something like that. It was one of those dreams you remember that seemed like a memory. It was harsh. Life was harsh.

Went to a Father’s Day breakfast this morning at Ellie’s school. it is funny to watch how different dads act. I interact with Ellie, as do many of the other dads. Some of the dads were so stiff they looked like manikins. One dad seemed very bossy and out of place. Not sure what to take from this.
Got an email from Yahoo. They wanted me back. That is a pretty good way of reminding someone their account is going to expire. They notified me 30 days in advance. And, they were nice about it. Too bad I don’t really have a need for that account. I only created it because I wanted to avoid a bunch of spam from a specific online vender.
Breast feeding is a lousy form of birth control. It is highly unreliable.
The next time someone catches me day dreaming I’m going to say I was working on my memoir.

I use vim a lot at work. I catch myself hitting escape -> : -> s for save in many programs without even thinking about it.
It
is funny how things work sometimes. I felt like doing cartwheels when I
finally got rights to some server in England today. As far as i can
tell, it is mounting a home folder in Austin Texas for me. That should
not cause any issues, crossing the Atlantic twice with every command and
all.
Attended
an online class today. It was one of those learn while you work things.
I like the fact that I can take a class in how to take classes (more
or less) and it counts. It is something I need to learn.

The humidity was ridiculous this morning. I was dripping with sweat when getting on the bus. It felt like walking into a deep freeze. It was awesome.

I spent half my day trying to get a Java program to run so I could do my job. It was settings that took so long. It was a real pain in the neck. The documents did not have the answer. I had to ask someone who had installed the software before.
Went to the parking garage and had the camera with me. Nothing. All I wanted to chat about was fictional. I should record those too. I just need to remember to mark them as fictional. The trouble is, there is no real storyline. It is just a bunch of random crap that is in my head and wants out. Unfortunately, it cannot be faked. I’ll think of something.
Google quit on my work computer today. Rather than thinking anything was wrong with google, I tried another machine, assuming it was something on my side. It was.

Some excitement
Someone got arrested outside my window today. Too bad my window is on the sixth floor. and there are trees in the way of the sidewalk where it went down. I didn’t see anything. I ended up climbing on my desk to look out the window better. It didn’t help. I could hear the officer shouting at the suspect to get down and do something else that I couldn’t make out. I am 6 floors up and behind air tight windows.
I also didn’t catch a stray bullet so I’m calling it a wash. The only frightening thing is the sidewalk where it happened is the one I use to go to the restaurants near my work. It was lunch time. I was busy.
Some of the folks in the next office caught glimpse of what was going on better than I. Even with the perfect vantage point I missed it all. The entire building on this side was most likely turning their heads and gawking for everything they were worth.
the story goes that some guy ran round a corner in to view of the building. An unmarked car occupied by a plane close officer pulled up very quickly and the officer drew his weapon and started shouting orders to the man. I have no idea how accurate that is. I only heard the screech of tires and shouting.
A couple years ago a guy in a pickup truck was stopped right in front of our building. He hopped the curb and drove past the police car in front. he tried driving through the parking lot behind our building, but was stopped by more police without a tussle. It was exciting then too. I am pretty sure I mentioned it.
Notes
The recent bump in housing is, some say re inflating the bubble. Others say it is simply a bounce after having so long without buyers in the market. It is nothing like it was a couple years ago. I do not intend to move, so a lower price on my house simply lowers my taxes.
Bill Clinton makes $200,000+ for a speech. I believe they said he does 2 a week. He also gets a pension from the taxpayer. Maybe we should consider a needs basis for that stipend of well over $100,000 he gets from us.
Some other countries like the UK are upset that the U. S. is snooping their citizen’s emails and other information without due process. It may boil down to the NSA being able to snoop the U. S. citizenry more easily than other countries. I want to know about other country citizens using a Verizon phone on foreign soil. What the hell are the laws there? You know this is happening.
Noticed my Google Drive number is now 15 gigabytes. This is up from 10 gigabytes the last time I looked a couple years ago. Before that it was 3 gigabytes. The thing is, my limit is going up faster than my pile of data. At some point I won’t have any data on Google Drive.
Amazon is getting in on the grocery game. I cannot wait. I will be the first to get my groceries delivered to my home when this comes live in my area. I tried it several years ago, but the place I used went belly up.
There is no such thing as a peaceful religion. There are only peaceful people.

I looked at laptops last night. it pisses me off no end that I cannot get a laptop from a big dealer without windows on it. That is just evil monopolism in my book. I can beat Lenovo prices with Dell, even factoring in my discount. That pisses me off. My company want’s more money for old shit laptops than a new one would cost.

- Work
- SNAFU at work. No details to follow
- Rights vs privileges
- If you are asking for them, they are rights
- If you are granting them, they are privileges
- Traveling and heat around the world
- Math and something about 30% of numbers in series starting in 1.
- I said it is bias for series that have lots of ones.
- The guy who got the blank fortune cookie
- Getting hit by cars
- Pregnancy, sort of
- Do you ever ask a woman if she is pregnant?
- Do you just commit and say “Congratulations”?
- I like summer and got shouted down for saying so.
Not much else stuck. I do enjoy going to lunch with these guys. It is all guys. I don’t think we have had a single female join us. It is a good thing some days. Days like today for example.
