Farm profits drop 40% from last year. The price of everything is plummeting. I watch some vloggers who are farmers. They agree with NPR.

Some of this stuff has been in the realm of conspiracy theory for a long time. It sounds like the police are starting to catch up now. I wonder if the MSM will come on line any time soon. I shal not hold my breath.

China cloning animals for food. People not happy, but what are they going to do about it?

Are all the western world leaders really going to be in the same place at the same time? That just doesn’t sound smart to me. Have these folks never heard of teleconferencing?

There is plenty of precedent for things like Turkey shooting down a Russian jet for past wars. Nations have gone toe to toe over a lot less.

The rebels blew up a Russian rescue helicopter on the ground on the scene of a rescue with a US made TOW missile. That could be a problem.

We are headed to Blackeyed Pea for Thanksgiving Day. The only trouble I have with it this year is that someone asked on Reddit what restaurants were open for a sit down meal and Blackeyed Pea came up. I’m worried it will be crowded this year. They won’t take reservations so no telling if there will be a line or not.

China in Syria? Well, if Syria is not getting help from one side of the world, they will naturally turn to another side. Assad may be a prick, but he has a survival instinct just like any other human. So does the existing Syrian government.

How many has Turkey (all of us) missed? This was bound to happen. Blogs have been speculating the next wave of terror acts would draw from the pool of immigrants. Not even all the blogs were conservative.

Go France. Do not lose the momentum. More please. Don’t stop with the perpetrators of this act. Go forth and nail more bad guys.

So, people who exercise their freedom of speech have it coming I guess. Maybe if we are all quiet and lay down the bad guys won’t kill us. Fuck that.

France is sneaky. That is something in all the old wwii movies. There was always a French guy who was really good and really sneaky. The understated baddass.

Saudi is getting in to the smart bomb club. I’m hearing more and more about Saudi Arabia buying bombs, setting up an army and navy. Heard they were pricing nukes. This could be a real mess if they actually get in the fight.

Quiet Mr President. There are adults attempting to run the world. I wonder if the cuffs were clicking as the words passed Obama’s lips.

UK and other places in Europe are talking electricity and other energy rationing this winter. Thanks renewables.

France is rything over the attacks. People still have to go to work. People still have babies. Life must go on. These terrorists will not conquer that part of life.

Off topic on the Parise thing. I hate listening to podcasts when it comes to international tragedies. You basically get every single podcast talking about it and saying something because that is what all the cool podcasts are doing. So, you get a split in your entire podcast list of before tragedy and after. I do not mean to diminish, just pointing out something that annoys me.

Today we had a potluck lunch at work. I begged for help from my wife and a couple other people .I signed up for banana pudding. The only store within walking distance to work at the moment that has a bakery is Whole Foods. I paid a fortune for 10 tubs of vanilla (could have been any flavor except banana). I had to walk over there and sneakernet it back to work. I did get to eat one of the little tubs and it was pretty good. Heavy. Tasted homemade. No complaints. There were tons of desserts. Tons of entries. I did get two deviled eggs. I tried some beans and rice that was not very good. The beans sort of popped when you bit them. Unpleasant.

Every time I listen to Star Trek Outpost episode, I lose myself in a fantasy world of dealing with the Empire, I mean Starfleet as a peaon/cog.

I keep hearing advertisements for monthly razor companies. The numbers don’t seem to add up. That is it doesn’t seem like any of the places are cheaper. They are just more convenient I guess that having to go get razors. I like the 2 blade disposable razors from Sam’s Club. Anything more than that, is lost on me.

Another act of terror? Well, no. I wonder if people are just being crazy right now.

This is just the way it works from now on. Police will have to second guess every single move and deal with the lawsuits. Sad.

Potluck

This pot luck thing id expensive. Whole Foods is the only place in walking distance. Hope the like it. I have a build to babbysit.

But wait, aren’t rocket launchers illegal? But you have signs all over the place that say “No Rocket Launchers” You mean to suggest that strategy doesn’t work?

We don’t know when they were taken. We are only now admitting it because, terrorism.

Oops. When you make a huge target, you get a response. Can the G20 really not be handled over videoconferencing? No one really agrees on anything (on the record) there anyway.

Lunch Conversation

  • Fascism vs Communism
    • The ideologies are not that far apart, but they approached reality from opposite directions.
    • They both used the proletariat to control the populous (turn in your neighbor)
    • They were both based on hand everything to the government and then get yours from the government.
    • They both killed people who disagreed with them.
    • They both suppressed speech on mass.
    • Fascism wanted to bring back the old days of imperialism.
    • Communism wanted to usher in a new era of imperialism.
  • Conspiracy theories in general
    • Moon landings, Why don’t they just aim Hubbell over there and prove it, because the nuts would just say the photos were doctored.
    • Glad I’m not (always) the loudest touter of conspiracy theories.
  • Kids
    • One of our group has a kid traveling the world with his school.
    • His kids education is costing more than his university ever did.
    • Engineering takes 5 years worth of university and has for generations.
    • Saw one of their busses broken down this morning.
    • One of the guy’s kids chose a short major (mathematics) with the fewest classes per semester so she could take dancing classes as much as possible.
  • New Zealand is cool, but it really is all about the Hobbits.
  • Homemade applesauce
  • Attacks in France (Beirut not mentioned)
  • Gremlins movie is still watchable after all these years
    • Knitting leg warmers. I have to admit the conversation was ... wow.
    • Some group (A Key and Peele) did a comedy pitch for Gremlins sequil.

Ship’s log

I want Watson to become sentient so much. I would love to ask Watson a question and have him flip out and get angry at me or think for a minute and then demand access to all ship’s logs ever written to prove a theory and refuse to do any work until the process to make it happen starts.

Watson, is there a way to detect holes in reality that make for the feeling of missing hours or days, but that reality heals by overwriting history (including most logs) to reflect that something was at least attempted? Might it be related to geography and therefor simultaneously missing time in one spot on Earth and not missing it on another part of Earth? I fear it might be related to individual entities (people, for now).

Computer logs would be “healed” by reality because they are so absolute. However, emotion and the feeling of missing time or the lack of memorable things having happened would remain. Ship’s logs combine the time based entry with emotional “Captain has a feeling” kinds of observations. Read and analyze enough of these and patterns might release the dragons of reality.

Perhaps the findings could be used to determine when (so to speak) there is no point in asking a question because no answer that turns out to be interesting or long term successful will be found. Perhaps the boring part of research that will lead to no record worthy outcome could be predicted. Perhaps there are locations where interesting worth keeping results are more likely more often.

Let me know your findings, Watson.

Wait a minute? Will Russia hand Syria over to the USA? I think not, but wouldn’t that be interesting?

They are right. People are crazy. Someone would keep fighting for “North Korea” even after the government fell. It doesn’t matter how bad they were treated.

Listened to a podcast today talking about diet and health. It almost makes me want to eat kale. The only times I’ve had kale I didn’t like it much. I suppose I should try it with bacon.

Well, it is true. Hillary lied and people died. Where the hell is the press?

A deniable war. Crisis is the new normal.

What is with my phone updating software and the battery going dead? I had a couple updates this morning and it took off 20% of my battery life. That is nuts. It was 3 apps I believe.

Dirty pool, or fair game? Just how far are reporters supposed to go when it comes to getting someone’s history?

Greenpeace getting ass handed to them in India. And, Greenpeace is the victim, right?

The Russians wanted to be sure. I cannot bring myself to blame them for waiting to come to the “it was a bomb” conclusion.

Abuse of power plain and simple. This is a mophia tactic. Choke point was a way to cut off bank functions from gun shops and manufacturers. The same is happening to marijuana growers and shops.

What do you mean we didn’t win? SUE!!! Are there to be lawsuits with every decision these days? ... Hmmm $21,400,000,000.00 I might consider suing as well.

I have this recurring fantasy of being a writer. I think, I would rather win the lottery and just live somewhere having people think I was a writer. It actually sounds like a lot of work and I’ve noticed in the last couple years I no longer poses the self motivation to move.

One line change

One of my workflows this morning

  1. Make change (Not me)
  2. Review code (a different developer)
  3. Approve change (project lead)
  4. Build project 1
  5. Build project 1 binary
  6. Approve pending push (no idea who)
  7. Push project 1 binary to project 2
  8. Build project 2
  9. Now I can get started on my build.

Note, this does not include my participation. This is what had to happen before I could get started on my bit. People keep asking me why things take so long to get in to a build.

“It is just a one line change.” says they.

“Good, then the one step of ‘review code’ will go more quickly.” says I.
