Not sure why, but my YouTube numbers are up a bit. Not a lot, but a bit. No idea how to make it continue. Sad really.

A friend of mine signed up at work for a mobile device that is basically a very capable pedometer. He has been complaining about his middle (like me) for years now. It turns out having this thing in his pocket or wherever and having some sort of big brother looking over your shoulder (constant supervision) is paying off. I’ve noticed him taking the stairs and such. Still eats fattening meals at lunch right along side me. I might have to look in to one of those things.

12% of high schools produced 50% of the dropouts back inthe day. This kind of thing has been under a microscope in the last 20 years. The idea is track who is dropping out, find the issue, and fix it. Go figure.

Got up this morning. Elle is a teenager. She has hit that place where she is a dragass frustrated vagabond who wants to scratch all the wrong itches. She isn’t that bad. Still, she moans and belly aches every time you I or Nast speak to her. Ah, parenthood. It isn’t like this happened some time last night. It has been an evolution for a while now.

I wish I was this creative. Skippy’s list. And dedicated. It takes a dedicated mind to be this much of a distraction to everyone else.

I put my phone on a folded paper towel on my desk because when it vibrates the whole desk acts like an amplifier. When I put the phone on top of my wooden monitor stand on top of the wooden desk, it sounds like a truck driving by on a bad road. The folded paper towel seems to do the job of stifling the noise.

The trouble with Instagram is that it is not so instant. The interface drags you through photo settings and comments in separate screens with a next button between them. It is kind of clunky. I also hate the limitation of a square picture. I didn’t think I would care, but I really do. I only joined to comment on someone elses picture. I’m following a bunch of people who are boring. I think the idea was to make a twitter where you would accompany every post with a quick picture. Feels more like a limitation than a freedom to me.

I have a rule. Never start anything after 17:00 wihtout arm twisting involved.

I like Jeb Bush. This is why I don’t want him to run for president. I end up hating (because of negative media coverage) anyone who runs for the office.

Elle had an Earth Day breakfast thing at school. I couldn’t go because I had a shit ton of work to do. Half way through my morning, I realized that all the shit I was doing was to make the general well being of the company better. I need to focus on my little girl more. it is so difficult. There is so much to do all way round.

With this in mind, I gave up one of my responsibilities.

This is a huge thing for me. I don’t normally say no. This is one of the skills they told us we need to develop when the large company took us over. Well, Here I go

Long day. It is 9:30 (am)

Birth control pills (Progesterone) came out in 1960.

I don’t even listen to the numbers on Wall Street. I only care if we fat or lean. How many fortunes are run on the same set of criteria?

I attempted to put a panoramic on this blog this afternoon from a Japanese place where I went to lunch. it was a pretty cool photo of the inside of the round room where we sat. It failed to upload from my phone. It did make it to my Google+, Twitter and Facebook pages. No idea what the hell happened to Blogger.

lunch Conversation
  • Work
    • None (I don’t remember any)
  • Home renovations
    • One of the guys is getting his outside gutted and redone. It was funny because the rest of us declared the bits that affected our lives.
    • He was adamant about a huge trash can in the kitchen. Basically the bottom floor of his house will be wrapped around the kitchen.
  • People we forgot
  • Life playing video games.
    • Einstein spent most of his work day as a patent clerk dreaming up the theory of relativity.
    • How many discoveries could have been found except for a life spending every free thought on video games?
  • The place
    • japanese
    • Good food
      • Baked rice scures
      • Fresh wasabi
    • Could handle 10 people with separate checks depending on your server.

I took the wrong medicine this morning. I took a two year old antihistamine. Prescription at that.  Now I hae medicine head and I’m quite dizzy.

I asked for help and keep jacking with things to the point the people I asked for help can’t help me. Not smart.

3 billion people are getting richer. They are entering the middle class and eating more meat. The rest of the world is either already gluttonous or starving to death. The human race uses 40% of all the land on earth is used to grow food of some kind.

This blog is over eleven years old.

I think more people outside the U. S. watch my YouTube channel than inside.

Gout attack today. Been feeling it coming on. My left ankle is sore. It is the typical gout pain. If I set for a bit it hurts worse. Clears up half way when I walk for a bit.

The U. S. constitution requires a census and that people are “counted”. The trouble is, it is actually more accurate to do estimates than it is to attempt to count people.

I’m getting the itch for videos again. This is a good thing, but I don’t have ideas or drive. Just the itch.

QR codes are cool. I do not know why. They make me think of time gone by when I wanted to get information in to the digital realm without killing myself typing stuff in.  I remember finding printers meant for bar codes back in the day. Thinking that was really cool. I have no use for it any of it really. I intend to put some QR codes behind me when I do my vlogs.

I’m using iotop and this thing called glock_workque keeps eating the drives lunch. There are dozens of them running simultaneously. To Google. ... Um. It is a complex IO handler of some kind. I’m lost.

Have a system in the UK that pops up and vanishes. The moments I can get in I do an uptime command and it has been up for months. The connection between here and there is flipping. I have no idea what to do. I know the idiots on our helpdesk will not be able to help me. Honestly, the thing to do here is hope it goes away. This will produce the fewest headaches for me.

There was a dead Ford Explorer at Dairy Ashford and Whittington. I used to lift right off that intersection behind the Post Office. Bill and I got out of the car and pushed it off the main road on to the side. That car was going to cause a wreck. We did our good deed for the day.

One of the people at my work is very smart, but making an argument for not vaccinating children. I am not participating in his madness. I am pro vaccination.

Humes and baklava for afternoon snack at work. We have this goofy meet and greet once a month. It works out pretty well because I always forget until the lady comes round and hollers at us to go. This time was a good one. I’ve never seen that much hummes in one spot before. Three huge trays full and it was very fresh. I forget what fresh hummus tastes like.

There I was, sitting in my office working on some more or less trivial tasks, waiting on a build. When, what do I hear from a couple of other offices? People arguing on what goes in the next build. It used to be fixed on what went in and stayed out long before we decided to do a build. This is when we were a small company. Now that we are ghuge and builds are far more complex, people argue for their fix to make it in harder than before. This way is better.

Some say there will be a good treatment or even perhaps a cure for Autism in the next 10 or 15 years. Nice. Hope these folks are correct.

Device designers want us to talk to our devices. It really pisses me off when people talk on the phone in public places like I’m just supposed to ignore their conversation and all the personal information going by. How bad is it going to be if everyone has to speak loudly and clearly to all their devices.

There is a saying in Africa. Trained, not aid. It is older than the old saying “Give a man a fish and he eats for  a day. Teach a man to fish and he can feed himself.”

Weekend recap
  • Mowed yard Saturday morning. Well, mowed the front yard. It started sprinkling later and I never finished the yard work.
  • Made a couple videos mostly about nothing.

Procrastination pays off. I hadn't listened to Journey In To podcast in a long time. It turns out they were doing a series. Now, I have all the series to listen to in a row. That never would have happened if I had planned it this way. I know me.

I haven’t sat down and written anything for the blog in a long time. It is showing in my writing skills. I should do some fiction.

We drove past the same intersection where we had the near miss this morning. No repeat. However, people in this town seem to think they are supposed to pull out of a driveway on to a busy street and intentionally pull in to the lame with the fastest oncoming traffic. It is ridiculous.

Not being able to remember names names is genetic. it is related to oxytocin production.

Added the QR code of my YouTube page to Evernote. Not sure if it will ever come in handy, but there is no way I’ll ever remember where to get a QR code without just going and finding a place again.

Notes

The feedly Android app has some screwy things wrong with it.
  • When you use an external app and come back (screen reader) It dumps you back at the beginning. Very annoying.
  • If you let the screen blank by mistake, it takes an age for the phone to let you type type in your passkey.
  • Crashes quite a bit.

I’m hiding in the lab. Well, I’m actually doing some work. I’m waiting for a system to become unfucked.

Listening to a story on food stamps. They turn 50 this year. Not sure they are doing the job they were originally intended to do. My jury is still out on food stamps. It seems that boost to the economy is relied upon for a bunch of stores. I wonder what percentage of Wal-Mart’s yearly revenue is paid for by the food stamp program. No one says because it would look really bad. Market Place says it is $13,000,000,000 a year.
