Very Local News

  • There is a quiet undercurrent to hold drivers responsible for their actions. Laws that ban distractions and devices in the vehicle to help break the law are on the increase. Vehicle safety people are starting to say that drivers, not cars are now the most dangerous link in the chain. I like it.
  • Smoking, illegal drugs, lethargy, and poor diet make up about half of the U. S. cost of health care. Maybe we should have a system where every one pays, but only those who act properly are covered.
  • The pirates off the coast of Somalia are getting out of hand. Companies want to arm their ships for traversing the area. That sounds like a deal to me. The Russian navy is headed to the area to retrieve a ship loaded with tanks and small arms. Quite a swag for the professional pirates.
  • Wildlife conservationists are probably responsible for the decline (mass extinction) of amphibians across the world. Frigging dogooders, messing with God's domain, have doomed us all!
  • Shaving does not make hair grow back thicker. It just feels thicker because shaving causes a sharp edge at the tip of each follicle that makes the hair feel more robust. The hair is exactly the same density and quantity as before.
  • We need national ID cards.
  • I live paycheck to paycheck. I work with a bunch of rich people who have the attitude of "How dare you live from paycheck to paycheck?!" I can't do it any other way. Their stuck up attitude is really starting to piss me off.
  • 10% of the UK GDP comes from the financial sector.
  • No teatime this afternoon. We had birthday cake. Happy birthday Laurie.
  • A rumor of a bomb blast in India caused a human stampede and several deaths.
