Very Local News

  • Africa
    • Genocide in some places.
    • China investing on mass with no strings attached except to make money, thus not condemning the genocide.
    • Debt not being paid to Western countries from African countries because Western countries bitch an moan about genocide and China is more than willing to spend money in African countries with no string attached other than making money.
    • Free trade is biting African countries in the ass worse than the Western countries. The African countries can't gang up on the Western countries like vise-versa. This does little to help relations.
    • NGOs and bleeding heart liberals are poring money in to African countries. I have no idea what they expect to get back. Just educating people doesn't mean they will be good, it just means they will be smart.
    • I'm still sick of hearing about it, even if it is a real problem.
  • Walked to the new, slow, McDonald's for lunch. Has a couple of $1 cheese burgers. The burgers were pretty good. I didn't get a drink because the idiots behind the counter didn't know what a cup of water was apparently. Did I mention there was a hurricane going on? Not in Houston. We persevered. Damn the flying yield signs, full speed ahead.
  • Starbucks lost money last quarter for the first time in fifteen years. For a while there, Starbucks was opening a new store somewhere every six hours.
  • KFC is adding one franchise a day in China. Their success is due to going native by modifying their recipe per local markets. I wish KFC would modify their recipes in the U. S.. I think chicken strips in duck sauce would taste pretty good.
