I was listening to BBC Five Live today with Peter and Jane. They read out emails and text messages on the stories all the time. It is so much better and easier to screen than taking callers. They do take callers, but they are highly pre-screened. Every once in a while, they have a funny text. Today they had the following (from memory) "Please tell my husband Joe to turn off his mobile [cell phone]. He is connected to the house and all I can hear is Jane and Peter."
Now, that is a public service announcement.
